The Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) is dedicated to scientific discovery 秘色视频 exploring fundamental biology, understanding biodiversity and the environment, and informing the human condition through research and education. Founded in Woods Hole, Massachusetts in 1888, the MBL is a private, nonprofit institution and an affiliate of the University of Chicago.

A Convener of Scientific Expertise The MBL is home to approximately 30 scientists who are recognized authorities in their fields. In addition, the MBL attracts more than 1,200 of the world秘色视频檚 leading researchers, faculty, and students to its campus each year to collaborate, explore, and advance its mission of fundamental biological discovery. Areas of expertise and active exploration at MBL include:

  • new discoveries emerging from the study of novel marine organisms, encompassing research in regenerative biology, neuroscience, sensory physiology, and comparative evolution and genomics;
  • the study of microbiomes and microbial diversity and ecology in a variety of ocean and terrestrial habitats;
  • cutting-edge imaging and computation, illuminating cellular function and previously unknown biology; and
  • organismal adaptation and resilience in the face of global change and rapidly changing ecosystems.
